How the Fire Hose Reel Cabinet Works
The fire hose reel cabinet is permanently pressurised from the building fire service main, maintained at standby pressure by the jockey pump. To deploy, an occupant opens the cabinet door, turns the isolating valve to the open position, pulls the hose from the reel drum in any direction required, and opens the nozzle trigger to discharge water. The hose drum rotates freely so the hose can be run in any direction from the cabinet mounting position. A standard 20-metre hose combined with a 2-metre jet throw gives an effective coverage radius of approximately 22 metres.

Installation Requirements
Saudi Civil Defense and NFPA 14 require that every point on each floor is reachable by the hose from at least one fire hose reel cabinet within the travel distance limit. The water supply connection must come from the fire service main, which is maintained at working pressure by the jockey pump at all times. Annual Maintenance Requirements
NFPA 25 requires annual inspection covering hose condition, nozzle operation, isolating valve function, and outlet pressure test.
